What's IT Investement Research All About?

Interpreting the legal mumbo jumbo in SEC filings and like documents so you know what important public financial disclosures really mean; cutting through the buzzwords based on years of research and company experience at:
  • Datapro division of McGraw Hill
  • IDC division of International Data Group
  • Bull SA/Honeywell Information Systems
  • Data General

You don't have to be an insider for real fast access to:

  • Archived opinion available here  after it appears on my blogs at ebizQ.net and seekingalpha.com (IT Investment Research postings from 2006 also archived here)
  • Free timely information available on left hand panel here as appropriate
  • Up to date drill down on the 12 leading IT suppliers and their competitors and partners available here

One or two other IT companies might actually be larger than CA but the major research is limited to companies that report periodically and file on Edgar at least annually (e.g., SAP 20F) and that compete for a wide set of IT needs within enterprises and with consumers.

And by IT we mean to emphasize the importance of the "I" to businesses and consumers as well as the "T;" that's why Cisco, Siemens, etc. don't make the list even though they are larger than some of those in our "IT Top 12--"they're mostly "T."

Also included is periodic overview coverage of the IT Top 12''s partners and competitors.

Why Do You Need IT Investment Research?

You need to keep up to speed on what the leading IT companies are saying--and what it means--in order to protect your investments.  But you don't follow technology exclusively and keep up with the buzzwords and functional trends. Our research and analysis, which is totally based on the public record, is filled with data and analysis that you will also find actionable (and probably find no where else).

  • Which leading IT company is likely to be acquired next?
  • What technology is hot and what technology is just a warmed-over buzzword?
  • Why Oracle thinks maintenance revenue is more important than license revenue?
  • What going private might mean?
  • What IBM means by hosted vs. distributed, branded vs. non-branded?
  • What are the investment implications of ongoing legal actions (e.g., Azul vs. Sun)?
  • Is HP in the systems or services business and why does it makes a difference?
  • Will Google continue to grow or just the Google effect?
  • Is Microsoft serious about the enterprise or will it settle for consumer domination?

Even if you are not investing in Information Technology?

Not in the investment community but "invest" in the IT itself? You still need to keep up. Don't  place your company's next IT bet (or your career) on the wrong horse.  Understand what your favorite IT supplier is saying about the "buzzword du jour."  Detailed reviews of the SEC filings of Apple, CA, Dell, EMC, Fujitsu, Google, HP, IBM,  Microsoft, Oracle, SAP and Sun are available plus details on the dozens of other suppliers that compete with or partner with the IT Top 12 (e.g., Adobe, Autodesk, BEA Systems, Cisco, Intel, Intuit, NCR, Progress, Red Hat, Sage, Software AG/webMethods, Sungard, Symantec, TIBCO).
